SCHOLARSHIP IN HORTICULTURAL STUDIES
2024-2025 ACADEMIC YEAR
PURPOSE:
Hill Country Master Gardeners Association (HCMG), a non-profit, trained volunteer organization, a component of Texas AgriLife Extension Service, promotes volunteer education and service to the community. As part of our mission, HCMG is offering three $2,000 scholarships in horticultural science for the 2024-2025 academic year. It is our intention to provide financial support to three undergraduate or graduate students at Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tarleton State or Stephen F. Austin State Universities.
ADMINISTRATION:
General administration of the HCMG Scholarship is under the direction of the Scholarship Committee of HCMG, who will evaluate all scholarship applications. An interview may be required. Application is due by May 31 of current year. All applicants will be notified of selection decision by 30 June of current year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant must:
Be pursuing a degree in the horticultural sciences.
Be a full-time student in one of the four Universities listed above. Full-time is defined as 12 hours for undergraduate and 9 hours for graduate students, or as defined by their University.
Be at Junior level (60 hours) or above, with at least a 3.0 GPA.
Be a Texas resident. Preference will be given to students who are residents of Kerr, Kendall, Gillespie, Medina, Real and Bandera Counties. If none apply, then any student who meets all other criteria will be considered.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Each award will be paid in two installments: $1,000 at the beginning of the fall semester and $1,000 at the beginning of the spring semester. The recipient is required to maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and be a full-time student during each semester covered by the award. Proof that the recipient has met these standards will be required before the second semester scholarship installment is disbursed.
HCMG, Inc. reserves the right to withhold unpaid portions of the scholarship if the recipient fails to meet the requirements listed above. Recipients may apply for subsequent scholarships.
